Urologist Highland: The Many Talents of the Urologists at Highland Hospital

Urologist Highland, a patient recently asked me how many Urologists practice at Highland Hospital, and I realized it might be useful for our readers to know too. We currently have 11 urologists with a variety of interests and specialties in the field of Urology. Choose a physician listed on the right to learn more about that specific physician, including their education and training, interests, location in our hospital, and any additional information we have about them that we think you might find interesting.
Dr. James Smith – General Urology:
Dr. Smith, a General Urologist in Highland, has a focus on minimally invasive treatments and is an expert in robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and urethral sling procedures. He also specializes in vasectomy reversals for men who wish to have children again. Dr. Smith is an active member of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and serves as secretary on their Board of Directors.
He completed his urology training at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine where he served as chief resident in his final year of residency and was named Outstanding Resident by his peers that year. He also served as director of their lab for research on prostate cancer for three years during his residency there.
Dr. John Doe – Male Infertility:
Dr. John Doe specializes in male infertility and is one of 11 urologists at Highland Hospital. Dr. Doe is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and completed a fellowship in male infertility at Johns Hopkins Medical Institution. He has been practicing medicine for 20 years now and is an expert in his field with many publications to his name. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis with friends, watching sports on TV, spending time with family, or traveling to other countries.
Dr. Jane Doe – Female Urology:
Dr. Jane Doe is a board-certified female urologist who specializes in adult and pediatric urology. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, and completed her residency training here at Highland. She has been with Highland for over a decade and can help you with any urinary problem or issue, including bladder cancer, prostate cancer, stones, and infections. Dr. Jane Doe will take the time to listen to your concerns during your visit and answer any questions you may have about your condition or treatment plan. Dr. Robert Johnson – Kidney Stones:
Dr. Johnson is a board-certified urologist who specializes in kidney stones and bladder problems. Dr. Johnson completed his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, where he graduated with honors, and then went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from Temple University School of Medicine. His residency was at The Medical College of Pennsylvania, and he completed a fellowship in urology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center/New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Johnson has been practicing as a surgeon for over 20 years with expertise in minimally invasive surgery for treating kidney stones, bladder cancer, and other pelvic disorders such as incontinence or inflammation (cystitis).
Dr. Richard Brown – Erectile Dysfunction:
Dr. Brown received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed his urology residency training at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Brown’s areas of interest include male sexual dysfunction, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). His clinical interests are male sexual dysfunction, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and surgery for BPH. He has authored over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and written numerous book chapters on these topics.
Dr. Nancy Anderson – Voiding Dysfunction:
Nancy Anderson, MD, is a urologist with expertise in voiding dysfunction. She specializes in diagnosing and treating adults and children with all types of incontinence and other bladder problems such as overactive bladder, urinary tract infections, and kidney stones. She has been practicing for more than 25 years. Dr. Anderson graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. She completed her residency training in urology at Duke University Medical Center (Durham) and a fellowship in pediatric urology at Children’s Hospital Boston (Boston). Her clinical interest includes pelvic floor disorders, reconstructive surgery for female incontinence, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, and rehabilitation after prostatectomy or transurethral resection of the prostate.
Dr. Susan Kim – Pelvic Organ Prolapse:
Dr. Susan Kim is a urologist at Highland Hospital. She has been practicing for over 15 years and specializes in pelvic organ prolapse, female incontinence, female urology, cystocele repair, and vaginal prolapse surgery. Dr. Kim also does robotic surgery for urinary and fecal incontinence or other pelvic floor disorders like vesico-urethral reflux disease or overactive bladder. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and she obtained her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1995.
Dr. William Wong – Urinary Incontinence:
Dr. William Wong, a urologist with our highland hospital, specializes in urinary incontinence. Dr. Stephanie Nguyen – Male Breast Cancer:
Dr. Nguyen is board certified by the American Board of Urology and specializes in male breast cancer. She has clinical interests in male breast cancer, erectile dysfunction, and urodynamics. Dr. Nguyen earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, then completed her residency training in urology and fellowship in oncologic urology at Indiana University Medical Center – Indianapolis. Dr. Nguyen also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health with an emphasis on epidemiology from Indiana University Bloomington’s School of Public Health-Bloomington Campus.

Dr. Mary Chang – Renal Transplant:
Mary Chang, MD is a board-certified urologist with a subspecialty in renal transplant. Dr. Chang has been practicing medicine for over 15 years and has extensive experience in renal transplantation, kidney stone management and treatment, prostate cancer screening, and more. She is also a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and the Society for Transplant Nephrology (STN). Dr. Chang graduated from Johns Hopkins University with her medical degree and completed her residency training at Baltimore’s Union Memorial Hospital.
